Cooking with Friends

Many times when couples get married they stop spending time with their single friends. I would like Mike and I to stay connected to our friends. It was fun hanging out with our friends last night. We made garlic bread from scratch. I wish I took a picture (the image on the right is from eatingpleasure.blogspot.com); but this is how: I cut up a loaf of frech bread into thin slices. Then cleaned 6 cloves of garlic and sent them through the garlic press! Used about 2 or 3 tablespoons of mayo and mixed it up. Then I took a spoon and placed the garlic-mayo spread on top of the bread slices. The oven was preheated to 325 and we put the bread peices on a rack for 5 minutes into the oven. Then we took out the rack and put shreded cheese on top and then put the bread back into the oven for 1 moreminute so that the cheese melts just a littlebit. In the end it was crispy on the outside and soft bread inside with fresh garlic. Then Mike made chilli (out of the can) and the we all went up stairs to watch Mr.Bean videos and drank tea (and some of us - coffee). Well it was fun with you my friends. I hope we can do this again and even after Mike and I are married off.

Marriage Legal Name Change

I was not expecting my fiancee to change his legal name before the wedding. So this is why the blog url contains the words mikeandmariyakidd.blogspot.com. I cannot change the url, but the title of the blog I was able to change to Schoening. I am so exited to marry my fiance Michael and take on his name. I support him in his name change. Love you Mike. To do this legally research online: "(your state) name change forms" and fill them out well. Here are the forms in Oregon:
* Petition for change of name;
* Order to give notice to appear and show cause;
* Notice of change of name hearing;
* Affidavit of proof of posting notice of hearing;
* Post order affidavit of posting;
* Change of name decree; and
* Notice of change of name.

Designing Wedding Invitations

Today I was designing my wedding invitations. Mike and I had a photoshoot with an amazing photographer Brian Rennick. We used PagePlus software from Serif. It is an amazing program. My colors are yellow and white. I wanted this colorscheme for the invitations. Notice there is a little bit of orange in them more of the warm colorscheme in the search results. I found that by going to google.com and then typing in 'yellow orange wedding invitations'. Then I clicked on 'images' so that I would be able to see my search result in picture format. My inspiration for the wedding is mismatched yellow bridesmaid dresses as pictured on the side. We desided on a fold up design so that would require quarters; top, inside 1, inside 2, and bottom. This is a useful link from http://www.jansreadingroom.com/Cards/Q-Fold-Label-Cards.htm on making home-made invitations. It has lots of pictures so that you can create your own. That is the format we used but we used it on PagePlus software.

We put our favorite photo, from the photo shoot with Brian, on our cover. On the back we added 2 photographs and on the inside left slot we used 2 photos as well. We chose to use a lot of shots in the invites but you can leave the inside left slot blank. On the inside right cover we put our invite text. Here is how to find sample text for invites: go to google.com, type in "wedding invitations", click 'images' and see what other people wrote and make your text fit your occasion, names, date, time and place (or just click here). To make it easier to find invitations that you like, write your color/s in front of the search words: e.g. "yellow wedding invitations". This way you will see what you like and your search results will more closely resemble what you are picturing in your head. Don't fortget to put a phone number for R.S.V.P.

Good luck on making your wedding invitations. I will post our invitations when they are completed.

Choosing a Wedding Registry

I know so many couples who do wedding registries at Target. Many go to Wally Mart and opt for the pots and pans and bedding and all the home miscellaneous things. What about a honeymoon registry? What about a furniture registry? Is there a site out there that has all those combined? I decided to do a registry online. I went to trusty google.com and looked up the top wedding registry sites. The list included Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, Macy's and others. But I wasn't fully happy because the thrifty in me was looking for the best deals. I wondered if ebay.com(my favorite place to shop for deals) offered a wedding registry and from what I looked up I didnt see that ebay offered that service. Then I saw that amazon.com offered a bridal registry. I created the account which took about 1 minute to set up and then I was up until 3am looking for things to put on the registry. I was so excited because the idea of getting my fiancee to get ready and go to the store and argue over what we want to choose was exhausting. Online we could choose what we like and if we change our minds remove it without leaving home. I could find furniture like couches and all the kitchen essentials and all decor. The only downside is that amazon does not sell vacation packages on their site but you may type in vacation packages and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and you can see the sponsored ads that go to excellent vacation package deals for your honeymoon. Anyway, I signed up with amazon.com because it is more convenient for me to shop at home and get the best deal. I can choose any item from any seller on all of amazon to be put on my registry. That is pretty amazing. Here is our wedding registry. We didn't finish choosing everything we need yet but we are working on it. Try the amazon.com wedding registry and you won't be disapointed. -Mariya
